Youth Pastor

Our church in the North San Gabriel area of Southern California is looking to call a full-time or part-time Youth Pastor. Knowledge and understanding of the Asian-American youth culture and struggles are essential.

(A). Qualifications:

  • * M. A. in a seminary or equivalent;
  • * Proficient in English and understanding of the Asian-American culture;
  • * Ability to work with parents of the youth, who may be overseas-born Asians;
  • * Good team player and able to work with church leadership team;
  • * Good organization, communication, relational and counseling skills;
  • * Creative and a pioneering spirit.

(B). Job Description:

  1. 1. Teaching:
    • * Preach regularly in the youth service;
    • * Prepare curriculum for youth Sunday school;
    • * Be current on the relevant issues of the day to teach Biblical values;
  1. 2. Pastor and Counsel:
    • * Pastor the youth group ranging from 6th grade through high school;
    • * Work closely with parents to help guide the spiritual growth of their youths;
    • * Home/campus visitations and crisis counseling;
    • * Help in transitioning the youth into the young adult group;
  1. 3. Leadership Development:
    • * Identify and disciple youth leaders to help in planning youth programs;
    • * Create a parent advisory team to help in strategic planning, future direction and programs;
  1. 4. Administration:
    • * Organize and lead a weekly youth Sunday worship service;
    • * Organize Friday night fellowship, youth Sunday school, outreach, discipleship, counseling, and other youth activities (e.g. retreat, summer programs);
    • * Utilize social media platforms to reach out to the youth;
    • * Work on tasks assigned by the Senior Pastor.

Children's Director

Our church in the North San Gabriel area of Southern California is looking to call a part-time Children's Director for around 20+ children. Knowledge and understanding of American Born Chinese and Overseas Born Chinese cultures preferred.

(A). Qualifications:

  • * Bachelor degree in church ministry, preferably with master seminary degree (or nearing completion). However, current seminary students with substantial children's ministry experience are welcome to apply.
  • * Proficient in English and good understanding of the American Born Chinese culture; but also a willingness to work with Overseas Born Chinese parents.
  • * Good organization, communication, relational and counseling skills.
  • * Positive and creative spirit.
  • * Biblically knowledgeable.
  • * Engaging teacher.
  • * Passionate about children's ministry.

(B). Job Description:

  • * Bringing the children to love Jesus and learn the Bible.
  • * Organizing and preaching in children Sunday worship
  • * Utilizing CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) curriculum for different age groups.
  • * Working with the children’s ministry core team to plan for special activities (e.g. VBS, Harvest Festival).
  • * Recruiting and training volunteers.
  • * Ensuring effective two-way communication with parents.
